Patio, Lawn Garden => Pest Control => Repellents Ranking TOP14 The picture of the Liquid Fence that I ordered clearly showed that I should receive 16 gallons of spray with this 1 gallon container, however when I opened my box containing my ordered Liquid Fence, I found that it only makes 10 gallons of spray. Come on folks! This is clearly misrepresentation by someone. I am very unhappy with this "bait and switch" advertisement. Each year deer have devoured our hostas. Not this year!! A neighbor recommended Liquid Fence and I was happy to find this concentrated product on Amazon for a much better value than buying the "ready to use" product at the big box hardware stores. I use a 32 oz spray bottle that I marked at the 3 oz level to show the level of concentrated product to make a 10:1 ratio of water to concentrate. Wearing gloves and working outside, I pour concentrated product up to that fill mark and top off with water from the garden hose. I recommend wearing gloves and working outside when mixing from concentrate since the odor is very powerful. I made the mistake of making my first batch in our kitchen and thank goodness my wife was not home at that time!!Liquid Fence used to be an excellent product. They were bought out by another company who changed the formula. I compared two bottles of it. The new one is a waste of money. Do NOT buy this product anymore. I had been buying Liquid Fence for years and loved it. Now, you may as well spray your plants with water for the same result. This product does NOT work anymore. Very disappointed after all these years. Waste of money. The product seems to keep deer and rabbits away, however the batch I received was nearly impossible to spray. Once it was well shaken and mixed, as instructed (12.5 ounces/gallon water) the mixture kept clogging the screen in my sprayer. It was as if it contained fine sawdust - I wound up straining it through cheesecloth (after draining everything from my 25-gallon sprayer) and then pouring it back in, before it would spray at all. Even at that, it still clogged the fine screen and I had to spray it without the screen, then clean out the pump.As I poured the product, I could see significant pieces of what looked like plant chaff. As I was straining the diluted material (I started with a terry cloth) it almost immediately clogged up the cloth and quit flowing through. The collected material looked like a mix of plaster and cornmeal. If it had actually been ready to mix and spray, I would probably give it five stars, based on how it keeps the critters away, but if you can't spray it, it won't do any good.Quick tips:1. spray only when you know there is no chance of rain in 24 hours. It can take as short as 10 hours to dry. If you don't whatever you spray will be washed off and wasted. You can tell it has dried as the leaves get white stains on them.2. Spray DIRECTLY ON the flowers and blossoms. Don't waste it on the leaves or ground; they don't eat that unless it's springtime and they don't have many food choices. They will eat one flower/bud and EXPERIENCE that awful taste. That's the end of the munching3. Our deer keep coming back, they don't seem to remember the bad taste. So keep that repellant on the flowers.4. The odor is bad. The smell goes away after it dries. Plan accordingly (especially if you are expecting company!)5. It doesn't work as a perimeter barrier on the ground or on the leaves.6. I tried blood meal, spices and they work when put directly on the flower heads, but washes away easily.7. Spray the emerging plant leaves directly in the spring before flowering.8. You can leave it in your sprayer can for a week or two (that's all I've tried) without it gumming up or corroding the sprayer. Since it's organic, it will probably be fine for longer, but I flush mine out weekly.9. It's expensive, but so are my flowers.I have a fairly extensive flower garden, 50 feet across the front of the house and a large berm about 30' in diameter. I live by a large forest, we have couple families of brown rabbits nesting nearby (daily visitors) and ordinary eastern deer, a group of six who were initially attracted to the crabapple trees in our yard. They pass through daily. None of my neighbors have flower gardens, understandably. In the summer, the critters like the day lilies and the roses, of which there are several large groupings. They hit the flowers only, not the leaves, unless it's late winter, when they take all.Right now at the height of bloom in July, I'm fighting a battle of non-stop rain for 10 days, not enough interval between showers for the LF to dry, so I have to keep spraying daily. In late winter, early spring, the deer much on many of the plantings including the evergreen bushes. Slim food pickings for sure.In summer, all of the munching is on day lily, tiger lilly and rose flowers. They leave the peonies alone.Good Luck,5 stars for being more effective than any other deer deterrent, but deducting 3 stars for an apparent profit grab. I've used this concentrate for many years. It's been more effective than anything else. You do have to apply it regularly and especially after rain. Other reviews mention that the manufacturer changed the mix ratio, which now calls for about twice the product for the same gallon of mix. I emailed their customer service directly, respectfully requesting an explanation -- did the ingredients perhaps change? -- but they have not responded. I am now experimenting with using less product, about halfway between original and new ratio.Cheaper online than the local stores... This Product is the only thing that keeps the deer away. I have recommended this product to many people and they are all permanent users of this product. But must apply before any rain in the forecast for at least 8hours..Then I religiously applied every 3 weeks but if it downpours rain or all-day rain then reapply the liquid. I use a 2-gallon pressure pump sprayer. It will smell every time you spray this liquid but dissipates within a few hours.. This product is safe to use... Beleive me I live in the Northeast with a huge unfenced prennial garden and this liquid works.. Gracious Living Supreme Linen/Cotton Embroidered Pillow with 95/
